Splits leak as they thaw.
When to get a pro: Get a plumber if a pipe has burst.
Open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls.
Know where the main shut-off is.

Late cold

Test toilets for silent leaks with food colouring.
Check the softener salt level.

March

Spring melt

Spring melt can overload mains.
Pour water into floor drain traps.

Keeps sewer gas out.
Make sure downspouts drain away from the house.

Thaw
